Louise Bouguord• workshop on Saturday 25 February. Louise is a popular watercolour artist who will share her techniques with us in a workshop on a theme ‘Smashing Seas’. She will start with a demonstration to give us an idea before we get started as to what to expect in this inspirational workshop, a ‘not to be missed’ opportunity! Louise exhibits throughout South Devon, in particular at South West Art, Sidmouth
Maureen Fayle• Demo Monday 12 March & Workshop on Saturday 31 March. Maureen will illustrate her unique style of painting based on ‘Dartmoor Rocks and Boulders’. During the workshop she will guide us on how to be ‘bolder with Boulders’. She works in acrylic and oil but encourages you to use your own medium if you prefer. She tries to convey the sense of being in a particular place in a particular light or season. Maureen is an award-winning artist at the Royal Bath & West Show, and exhibited at the SW Academy, Dartmoor Artists Exhibition. Her paintings can be seen at the Mayflower Gallery Tavistock & the Duchy Square Centre for Creativity, Princetown. She also sells well at Teignmouth Art Society where she is also Chair.
Jennifer Johnson• Workshop Saturday 28 April. Jennifer is a very competent artist you already know and is sharing her expertise with us again in a workshop on painting ‘Spring Flowers in Watercolour’. Jennifer is an experienced tutor and specialises in traditional methods and skills based on observation and draughtsmanship. She uses the medium to its full potential, accepting its advantages and disadvantages whether it is watercolour or pen and ink. From figure drawing to architecture to painting flowers, these are all subjects that she enjoys. This workshop will need to be booked early!
Mike Hindle • Workshop Saturday 27 October. Mike is a popular, prolific painter who exhibits throughout the SW, but mostly, in Cornwall. His style is usually atmospheric open scenes and painted on a very large scale. At the demonstration he will illustrate his love of the Impressionists and how they used complementary colours and various brush techniques. The demo is followed a few days later by Mike’s workshop where he will encourage us to create paintings that can ‘lift the spirit ‘ by using those same techniques. Mike is an experienced tutor who will inspire those lucky enough to gain a space on this workshop. A painting experience not to be missed!
Clark Nicol• Workshop Saturday 24 November. Clark’s work began to develop its characteristic language of heavily textured paint evoking atmospheric landforms since 1980’s. Frequent visits to his wife’s family in Devon led to his discovery of Dartmoor and has since been his great source of inspiration. He now lives in Devon and has focussed almost exclusively on the local landscape, producing some of his finest work. Clark is back by popular demand. He will demonstrate and guide us through his use of heavy textures in oil or acrylic painting. You will have the opportunity to experiment with different textures before you work on your final textured painting of the day.
