REPORT ON
SUMMER EXHIBITION 2011
Birdwood House Totnes
The TAS annual Summer exhibition began in the Birdwood House Gallery on July 17th and continued for two weeks. Thirty six artists submitted paintings of which 78 were hung to begin with although more were added as some were sold.
The Private View on the evening of Sunday July 17th was attended by the Mayor of Totnes, Judy Westacott, who after saying a few complimentary words about the exhibition presented the Seymour cup for Best '1st Time Exhibitor' to Cherry Lyons for her painting '....and then the sun came out'.
The exhibition received a great many visitors over the two weeks who left many appreciative comments in the visitors book. Lots of them voted for their favourite painting which was 'Morning mist and Sunshine' by Jeanne Girling. She was awarded the Vanessa Hill bronze statuette. We sold 13 paintings, which was a very good result in the present economic climate.
I would like to thank the people who helped me set up and run the exhibition , their help was invaluable, namely Denise Orchard, Ann Chester King , Breda Holden, Lindy Burton, Rebecca Baker, Susan Ambury, Colin Drew and Campbell Drysdale.
